In 2008 and beyond we are raising funds in support of the Orphans and Vulnerable Children Programme, currently running across five countries in Sub-Saharan Africa.

This is a major holistic initiative spearheaded by Habitat for Humanity and involving other Non-Governmental Organisations and local community groups. Families are provided with more than homes, they are also educated about AIDS, Wills and inheritance rights and given training to set up businesses and improve their incomes. Our efforts, and yours, will empower these young people with the means to build themselves a real future.

Each year, we also plan to send teams of volunteers to representative locations across the programme. For 2008, our teams will help build homes at the Inkanyezi project in a deeply rural, tribal part of South Africa near Eshowe, around 100 miles from Durban. We will be working on a pilot of 15 homes, due for completion in December 2008. If successful, the project will then expand to build 300 more homes in the surrounding areas.
