Blood, Sweat but no Tears!
Sun 26th October 2008
On a glorious autumn day in the West Midlands, our trio performed heroically, completing the course in times of 1hr 46mins, 2hrs 20mins and 1hr 53mins respectively.
Heike narrowly managed to escape being trampled to death after falling within a mile of the start, but bravely fought on to complete the run with blood soaked clothes. Paul says that the only reason Ben beat him was because he “stopped to say hello to his daughter” whilst Ben is handling his new “running champion of Solihull” title with graciousness, dignity and modesty - the sign of a true champion!
Generally accepted as “quite a challenge”, the hilly course took in the sights of Birmingham and the runners were supported along its entire length by thousands of people. Passing by the site of their recent Clyde Tower competition entry Paul, Heike and Ben braved some of the more scary areas of the city before passing though the city centre, out past The Mail Box and into the leafy suburbs of Edgbaston. The finishing straight, down Broad Street was lined with spectators six deep in places that included Lauren and Marcus, braving the cold to support the Solihull threesome.
A final push is underway to chase additional sponsorship, with the combined total now in excess of £1500. If anybody wants to add sponsorship, please use the links below;

The team are having time off from training this week, choosing to spend their usual Wednesday night session on a “eatathon” at Jimmy Spices!
